What am I willing to be wrong about today?
"What am I willing to be wrong about today?"
Often times in our pursuit of goals, dreams, and our everyday tasks, our perspective about a problem or situation might shift and become very narrow.
Either because we are so focused, tired, or just accustomed to the daily routine, our ideas about the world - our reality - can become twisted and short-sighted.
In that tunnel vision, our curiosity and acceptance of the unknown is thrown out of the window. We pursue those ideas that we think are the "right" ones because of our level of experience or comfort.
And in that acceptance of "how things are supposed to be", we lose the opportunity to discover and learn something new about ourselves, other people, and about life in general.
The idea of asking ourselves everyday, "What am I willing to be wrong about today?", is so that we can take a couple minutes of the day to stop, reflect, and act in a way that is more mindful and different.
Mindful, because it is so easy to try to do what is right for the world - work, perform, be a productive member of society - that we forget to do what is right for us. You deserve some time for yourself to reflect on who you are becoming.
Different, because people don't expect it. In a world where we tend to be on the defensive at work and in our personal lives, meeting someone who is open to asking that question is an oddity.
And asking that question also helps other people to self-reflect, too.
Although experience and age may bring about a great sea of knowledge and wisdom that help us live, we are actually a constant work of art that is never finished.
No matter if you are a 3 years old or 93 years old, there is always something to learn about those who came before you and those who are in front you.
When we wake up everyday with the awareness that we will learn something new, we open up ourselves to the many opportunities the universe has to offer.
Because we are not afraid.
Because we are open to the changes of the world.
But finding the balance between expressing our competence and experience and being vulnerable to learn is not easy.
We need to continually and consistently work everyday to achieve that person who is as the quote says, "like water" - soft and yielding but also strong enough to wear away rocks.
As you move through life, never stop having the curiosity to wonder and experience the world.
Don't be afraid afraid to ask yourself everyday, "What am I willing to be wrong about today?". Learn it. Grow. And become the very best version of yourself.
Let me know down in the comments of your experience in dealing with vulnerability, learning something new, or anything else the reading helped you think about. I would love to hear from you and connect!
