I find comfort and love by surrounding myself with the beauty of Nature and music

Learn to love yourself

In my last post, I emphasized the importance of pushing yourself to be disciplined and perseverant in the pursuit of your goals - to make yourself strong and able.

Today, I want to emphasize the importance of loving yourself.

Just as it is imperative that we work hard to guide our successes, it is also imperative that we be gentle with ourselves throughout our lives.

It is in these moments of self-care and gentleness that we are able to become aware of who we are becoming, experience the rejuvenate power of stillness, and gain the energy to keep giving of ourselves in our relationship with others.

How do I love myself?

At least once a week, I try to schedule a big chuck of time to being gentle with myself.

For me, that chuck of time means enjoying the sound of the piano (whether listening or playing) or taking a walk around my neighborhood.

I especially love listening to Claude Debussy, Yiruma, or Ludovico Einaudi because their airy, melancholy, and dreamy tones remind me of the stillness and beauty of Nature. Through their music, I don't need to travel far to feel like I am surrounded by beautiful landscapes. My soul becomes filled with the imagery.

I also find some moments in my everyday life to experience the power of reflection. When day comes to an end, I am always on the look-out for that breathtaking sunset. When I watch that sunset, I hear the sound of creation exalting everything that is good:

“There is nothing more musical than a sunset. He who feels what he sees will find no more beautiful example of development in all that book which, alas, musicians read but too little - the book of Nature.”

Love the grind and the pause

It is brave to seek out those experiences that allow you to step outside of your comfort zone and grow. The drive to be always curious, vulnerable, and ready to learn is my life's goal. I seek to step outside of my comfort zone so that I can learn to become the best-version-of-myself.

It is also brave to seek out to be completely and utterly comfortable with who you are in the present moment. Love who you are and your passions for it is only when you are confident in your talents that you can impact the lives of others through your service. I seek to feel comfortable and love myself so that I can learn to give of my talents for the service of the world.

What are your thoughts? I would love hear from you. Let's connect!

P.S. - Take a listen to Claude Debussy's Clair de Lune in the link below to experience a moment of reflection.
