Becoming - New book release!

Just about two weeks ago, I published my first book.
It's been a crazy experience. It's been even crazier holding the book in my hands.
Becoming is officially my first published book.
Becoming is a book that contains poems and stories of the emotions and experiences that have transformed my soul.
Interestingly, the process of writing and publishing this book has been one of those transformative experiences that has taught me three lessons:
(1) The importance of routine:
At first, I thought I could just write whenever "the feeling" came. I found this to be inefficient. As a result, I set myself a particular time every week to concentrate just on writing. This blocked time turned out to be one of my favorite times of the week.
At the beginning, those blocked times felt forced, but once the habit was established, I was looking forward to the writing.
Additionally, when new ideas came to me throughout the day, I gave myself the flexibility to write at those random times. I kept in mind those were just uncommon occurrences and that I would need to keep writing during the set hours I had blocked for myself.
Lesson #1: Build a routine in your life that can help you accomplish your goals and allow yourself the flexibility to deviate and be spontaneous every once in a while.
(2) The empowerment that comes from self-expression:
I think every person that writes, at some time or another, has asked themselves, "Should I be afraid of expressing these ideas and emotions?".
My answer is this:
If I want to connect with you and learn from the world, I must be willing to be vulnerable. In expressing my ideas and emotions, I have sought to express who I am and connect with those that value who I am.
That is a powerful decision.
Lesson #2: Never Stop Being You.
(3) The beauty of creating art:
Creating something that can help others reach a higher level of self is an amazing feeling.
Whether you are an inventor or researcher seeking to create sustainable toilets for third world countries, or a lawyer trying to fight for social justice, or an artist trying to help people decompress so they can love themselves, creating to help society develop is a big responsibility.
Lesson #3: Take responsibility for yourself and seek to serve others to help raise everyone up. This will give your life all the meaning you are seeking.
What steps in your life have transformed you to become a better version of yourself? I would love to hear from you. Let's connect!
"You cannot hope to build a better world without improving the individuals. To that end each of us must work for his own improvement, and at the same time share a general responsibility for all humanity, out particular duty being to aid those to whom we think we can be most useful" - Marie Curie
