Using physics to explain personal growth and coaching.

Raise your hand if you have tons of "self-help", or "Book-of-the-year", or "New York Time Best Seller" books sitting in your shelf accumulating dust while reading this post [mine is raised].
We love to read and store. We are constantly accumulating information and believing ourselves to be improved by what we read.
And we are being improved, to a certain degree. But I would like to say that reading and accumulating all that knowledge creates only, maybe, a 10% improvement in our mindset.
Just like the physics' definition of potential energy as "energy that is stored", the knowledge that we gain by readings all these wonderful books is only knowledge that we are storing but not using.
Potential energy = Knowledge
So, how can we use up all of that potential knowledge?
We need to transform that potential knowledge into kinetic energy, or "energy that a body possess by virtue of being in motion".
Kinetic energy = Actions
If we truly want to upgrade ourselves 100% and develop our untapped potential, then we need to create motion.
We need to convert out potential knowledge into kinetic actions. How?
My answer is through coaching. Coaching is a goal-oriented relationship that helps individuals move through transitions or growth stages by creating a conversation aimed at discovery.
Coaching is an excellent tool to help make the leap from knowledge to action, because of the following three reasons:
(1) Coaching creates accountability: You remember those times as a kid when people asked you, "Tim, did you finish your homework?", or "Susan, what are your goals for the next four years in college?", or "David, how's that job searching going?". Yep, we still need those people in our lives who care about our success. It makes us move.
(2) Coaching focuses on outcomes: Your focus will determine your reality. If your focus is unclear or nonexistent, well, then your reality will be unclear or nonexistent. Creating outcomes, even if you are not sure how to get there, will help create motion in your life. And this motion can create openings for new opportunities.
(3) Coaching increases self-awareness: E.E. Cummings once said, "It takes courage to grow up and turn out to be who you really are". Self-awareness is a scary process, so feel empowered if you have found that courage to connect with yourself - not many people are up to the challenge.
Reading inspirational books is an amazing hobby. I do it all the time, and I keep accumulating potential knowledge.
But only after I experienced coaching myself and gained more self-awareness, did I start creating kinetic action.
Coaching transformed me and I seek to continue doing it.
How are you converting your readings and knowledge into actions in your own life? I would love to hear from you. Don't hesitate to reach out and connect!
Trust the process. Live the commitment
