BUILD stamina. STAY the course.

So you've written down your goal and you ready to start.
Your goal is specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound.
All you have to do now is to do it. But let's face it, it is not that easy.
As you begin your journey, you come across different roadblocks. You wonder how you are going to keep your commitment and drive.
To accomplish your goal, you must have more than just a plan. You must also have grit. You must build your stamina.
Stamina is what helps you continue learning new skills and acquiring new mindsets, as you stretch to accomplish your goals.
Stamina is what gives you the curiosity to explore and the drive to try again when you come face-to-face with failures.
You build stamina in order to continue studying something that has unlimited possibilities. And our lives are filled with unlimited learning and possibilities.
___________
How do you build stamina?
According to LIVESTRONG, the way to create physical body stamina is through releasing muscle tension, sleeping, eating right, and cleaning your bowels (yep, that's part of it).
Not only is building stamina good for our physical body, but our minds also require us to strengthen them.
The following are three components that I use to build my mental stamina:
#1. Patience
According to Meriram-Webster, being patient is "bearing pains or trials calmly", "manifesting forbearance under provocation or strain", being "steadfast despite opposition, difficulty, or adversity".
Those are very tenacious definitions!
Patience is exactly what we need as we transverse the adversities of life in this fast-paced-instant-gratification life.
Patience allows you to gain awareness and clarity in the face of adversity. That clarity helps you react to situations more constructively and wisely.
By reacting more wisely to situations, we build our character and values. And it is our character and values that keep us moving forward.
Be patient.
#2. Constructive Thoughts
Just like it's good to clean your bowel and get rid of waste, cleaning your mind of negative vibes is a must.
Negative thoughts don't help you reach your potential. They block you.
When a negative thought comes to mind, write it down, look to find where that thought came from, and seek to build a more constructive way of expressing your fears or doubts.
Have the patience to understand your thoughts and where they come from.
Have the patience to love yourself.
Have the patience to build through constructive thoughts the beautiful person you know you are.
#3. Practice
If you want to feel healthy, you have to eat right. Similarly, if you want to be a writer or a doctor or a coach, you have to practice your art and follow your goals.
Practice what you preach. Practice what you think. Practice doing the next right thing.
You have to just do it. Little by little.
And as you practice and do, don't forget that building your patience is also part of this step. Keep practicing mindfulness to help you reflect on your actions and progress.
BUILD your stamina. STAY the course.
What are your thoughts? I would love to hear from you. Feel free to reach out and connect!
Trust the process. Live the commitment
